Chiropractic was founded in 1895 by DD Palmer, a magnetic healer from Davenport, Iowa. The first chiropractic patient on record was a man by the name of Harvey Lillard. As the story goes, Mr. Lillard had been deaf for many years (no, it was not back pain) and DD Palmer made an adjustment in his neck which resulted in his hearing becoming restored. The investigation into the benefits of chiropractic grew from that day on.
